Scouted in 2016 by Inditex in Madrid for his creative edge, Julio Juan is a photographer who plays by no rules but his own. From an early age, his mentors and peers were skaters, artists, workmen, and transvestites. An eclectic mix of strong personalities that have shaped his distinctive style.
Inspired by the industrial landscapes of his hometown near Valencia, his first hand-made book was New Revolution 2016, a study of worker style mixed with high fashion. Experimenting with contemporary references and human expressions is at the core of Julio Juan’s reportage photography. With street casting he strikes up intimate dialogues with everyday people, creating powerful portraits that capture them and their essence (THEM Series). An outlook, community, a movement, a vibration.
Julio Juan delivers high-quality styling and art direction with great attention to detail for brands and people. Powerful color palettes and composition reflect his personality and vision, from concept development to art direction and set design. His work includes London Fashion Week for JW Anderson, Vivienne Westwood, Erdem, retail brands Zara and AllSaints, experimental artists and cutting edge designers like Pattern Chineso.
